1. Definitions of electrical terms 

• Charge, kinds of charge, characteristics of charge, unit etc. 

• Potential, potential difference ( brief idea only), unit, Voltmeter 

• Current, flow of electron, unit, Ammeter. ( brief idea only) 

• Resistance, unit, Ohm meter. ( brief idea only) 

September :

1. Electromagnet: 

Making a simple circuit of electromagnet by using soft iron and copper wire. 

October :

1. CELL 

• Primary Cell, Secondary cell. 

• Different types of cells: Dry cell, Voltaic cell , Lead acid Battery, solar cell; chemical reactions in such cells, drawing etc. 

• Difference between cell and battery 

November :

1. Electrical measuring devices and their uses Idea of Electric Circuit 

December :

1. Phase, Neutral, Earth wire 

• Open circuit, Closed circuit, short circuit diagram and explanation. 

• Effects of short circuit 

January :

1. Phase Neutral & Earth Wire 

2. Functions of Phase wire and neutral wire, way of returning of current Earth wire, Importance, how it save us from accidents ( Basic idea) 

February :

1. Effects of electric current Heating effects, lighting effects, chemical effects etc.

PRACTICAL FOR CLASS VII 

1. Assembling of a simple circuit with one bulb, one holder and a switch 

2. Assembling of two bulbs, two holders with controlled by a switch 

3 Assembling of two bulbs, two holders controlled by two switches 

4 Assembling of a bed switch connection. 

5. Learn P.A. System functioning and do assembly duty group wise. 

6. Assembling of a test lamp and know its importance 

7. Observe the earth wire and see whether the bulb of a test lamp glows with phase wire and also with neutral wire. 

8 Observe the inner components of a lead acid battery used for your School P.A. System. 

9. Various types of wire joints.

  Electromagnetism   Magnetic field Magnetic field is a lines of force surrounding a permanent magnet or moving charged particle. What is magnetic flux? It is defined as the total number of magnetic lines of force passing through a specified area in a magnetic field. Unit of magnetic flux is Weber. You are aware that when an electric current flows through a conductor, a magnetic field is setup around the conductor, in the year 1820, Hans Christian Oersted demonstrated that a current carrying conduct is associated with a magnetic field.   What is AC & DC? Alternating current u   Obtained from power plant, AC generator u   Current reverse its direction. Current is not unidirectional. u   Frequency of AC is 50Hz (in India) or 60Hz depends on country. u   Flow of electron keep switching direction- forward or backward. u   Safe to transfer over longer city distances and can provide more power. Direct current u   Obtained from battery, fuel cell, solar cell. u   Current always flow from positive to negative terminal of battery. u   Frequency of DC is zero. u   Flow of electron steadily in one direction. u   Voltage of DC can not travel very far until it begins to lose energy.     What is the frequency of alternating current in India ?
